Above that, Kakubo manages to draw out extravagant sound palettes with precise sonic combinations of samples that connect cultures and times. From third-world instrumental rhythms to UK Bass, asian traditional music or avant-garde electronics, all connected by a seducing and mysterious atmosphere, deviously crafted for dancing. The artist is resident of MAMBA NEGRA, the iconic queer electronic music party from São Paulo headed by Cashu and Carneosso (Teto Preto) known for occupying neglected urban spaces and for propelling the fights for feminine representability and sexual and gender freedom. His sound is heavily influenced by the raw energy and experimentation of 80s underground music and he’s also the head of the innovative and boundary-pushing diy electronics label Unrealistic Expectation.
