Ululu é uma performance que explora as tradições da antiga cultura são-tomense e propõe uma reflexão profunda sobre memória, identidade e as questões urgentes do futuro. O ritual de enterro do cordão umbilical e lançamento da placenta ao mar simboliza a ligação das crianças com suas raízes e a promessa de sempre saberem retornar à sua terra natal. Porém, neste espetáculo, surge uma interrogação existencial: como podemos habitar geografias não-humanas sem perder as memórias de rituais antigos e essenciais para essa transformação?

A performance será conduzida por três vozes, explorando circularidades, histórias e movimentos que questionam o que significa o retorno a um lugar de origem, enquanto a extinção iminente e as mudanças globais nos forçam a reconsiderar os conceitos de casa, pertencimento e memória.

Ululu is a performance that explores the traditions of the ancient São Tomé culture and offers a profound reflection on memory, identity, and urgent future questions. The ritual of burying the umbilical cord and throwing the placenta into the sea symbolizes the connection children have with their roots and the promise that they will always know how to return to their birthplace. However, in this performance, an existential question arises: how can we inhabit non-human geographies without losing the memories of ancient rituals essential for this transformation?

The performance will be led by three voices, exploring circularities, stories, and movements that question what it means to return to one’s place of origin, while the looming extinction and global changes compel us to reconsider the concepts of home, belonging, and memory.
