Book launching by curator and poet Serubiri Moses

THE MOON IS READING US A BOOK is Serubiri Moses’ debut collection of poems, in which he displays a wide-ranging palette of storytelling and folklore in a suite of narrative poems. The collection is built around an ensemble of characters that range from known to unknown. Serubiri crafts visually-inspired poems that combine the photographic, the intensely personal and the scholarly. In this debut, he manages to domesticate larger-than-life figures, including Zanzibari-born singer-songwriter Freddie Mercury and Nigerian-born photographer Rotimi Fani Kayode. In the book’s first world-wide release, Serubiri Moses will introduce THE MOON IS READING US A BOOK in conversation with Pântano Books co-editor Alice dos Reis, and read some of its poems.
