Storytelling Night—”Breaks”
Our theme for August is a wide open one: “Breaks.” Break up. Break down. Break in. Summer break. Weekend break. Surf break. A machine breaking. Your leg breaking. Law breaking—or just rule breaking. Any and all interpretations welcome. Maybe it is about the time you spent your summer break working on a fishing boat in the Northern sea. Or maybe it is about how you broke the law and ended up in jail. Or maybe about the break you and your spouse took from each other only to reunite more in love. We will hold our event at Fábrica Braço de Prata, an enormous multi-roomed centro cultural in Marvila that hosts everything from salsa bands to intimate piano concerts to philosophical comedy. To accommodate everyone, we will be in the outdoor tent right inside the gate to Fábrica Braço de Prata. The tent and venue has ample space but as our crowd keeps growing, we tend run out of seats. Feel free to bring yoga mats or cushions to sit on the floor and get snuggly as we listen to amazing storytellers.
Storytelling Lisboa is a completely free event run by volunteers. We welcome everyone to get on stage! Absolutely no experience is necessary. We only ask that stories be true and personal and that they are performed as opposed to read—and they should be stories instead of philosophical musings or motivational speeches. The content is completely at the discretion of the storyteller as long as it is related in the monthly theme and respectful to the diversity and experiences of all humans. Interested in sharing a story? We give spots on a first come, first serve basis. Check out our new brief form where you confirm the rules and give us a single sentence summary of your story in order to sign up: https://forms.gle/Zo98x9dBj2FfkaoX7 For any questions or concerns, reach out to us by DM on Instagram / FB page: @storytellinglisboa.
