King Size é uma performance de teatro que parte da teoria de performatividade de género de Judith Butler, que vê a masculinidade como uma construção cultural e uma performance. A obra também explora o legado histórico das representações travestis e de crossdressing nas artes performativas, tanto no Ocidente quanto no Oriente. O espetáculo propõe um confronto entre as performances drag contemporâneas e os códigos rígidos de representação de género no teatro e na dança tradicionais.
Através do drag king/queer, o espetáculo questiona o que é a masculinidade e a performance de género, subvertendo os papéis tradicionais e utilizando a arte como uma forma de crítica social. Em uma abordagem que reflete sobre a encenação da masculinidade, a peça levanta questões sobre o que é natural e o que é, de facto, uma construção cultural ou cénica.

King Size is a theatrical performance based on Judith Butler’s theory of gender performativity, which views masculinity as a cultural construction and a performance. The work also explores the historical legacies of travesti and crossdressing representations in the performing arts, both in the West and the East. The show confronts contemporary drag performances with the rigid codes of gender representation in traditional theater and dance, highlighting the differences between what is natural and what is a cultural or scenic construction.
Through the drag king/queer concept, the performance questions what masculinity is and the performance of gender, subverting traditional roles and using art as a form of social critique. The piece reflects on the staging of masculinity, raising questions about what is natural and what is, in fact, a cultural or scenic construction.
