Em Happily Ever After, Hugo Brazão explora as relações entre otimismo, apatia e a obsessão cultural pelo progresso linear. A exposição apresenta esculturas de parede de pequena escala que materializam narrativas imaginadas, como um cão preso no anseio perpétuo (FOMO), um urso absorto em um livro sobre tomada de decisões, mas irremediavelmente distraído, e gestos como bater na madeira ou cruzar os dedos, que evocam tentativas de afastar o azar.
No centro da exposição está Happily Never After, uma instalação em têxtil que explora os ritmos cíclicos do calendário lunar. Ao contrário dos finais lineares dos contos de fadas, as fases da lua sugerem um ciclo contínuo de crescimento e declínio, renovação e desgaste. Esta metáfora para uma contra-narrativa desafia a ideia de que o tempo é unidirecional, celebrando, em vez disso, a persistência da incerteza e do fluxo, uma lógica temporal de retorno e renovação.

In Happily Ever After, Hugo Brazão explores the relationship between optimism, apathy, and the cultural obsession with linear progress. The exhibition features small-scale wall sculptures that materialize imagined narratives, such as a dog trapped in perpetual longing (FOMO), a bear absorbed in a decision-making book but endlessly distracted, and gestures like knocking on wood or crossing fingers, evoking attempts to ward off bad luck.
At the heart of the exhibition is Happily Never After, a textile installation that evokes the cyclical rhythms of the lunar calendar. In contrast to the linear endings of fairy tales, the phases of the moon suggest a continuous cycle of growth and decline, renewal and wear. This cosmological reference destabilizes the narrative of time as a one-way journey, proposing instead a temporal logic of return and renewal. Here, the lunar cycle becomes a metaphor for a counter-narrative—one that resists resolution and celebrates the persistence of uncertainty and flow.
