Gustavo Casenave é um pianista e compositor uruguaio/americano que vive nos Estados Unidos desde 1994. Foi recentemente declarado “Cidadão Ilustre da Cidade de Montevidéu” (Uruguai) em 2021. Ele é duas vezes VENCEDOR DO PRÊMIO Latin GRAMMY® (2020 & 2019) para “Melhor Álbum de Tango” e “Melhor Álbum Instrumental” com todas as composições originais. Foi nomeado seis vezes ao Grammy Latino, incluindo três nomeações na categoria “Melhor Composição Clássica Contemporânea”. Artista da Steinway desde 2014, Casenave é o “Majestic Excellence Award 2022 Winner” no Excellence Piano International Competition na Europa. Ganhou duas vezes a medalha de ouro no Global Music Awards, o primeiro a receber o prêmio “Horacio Ferrer” (outubro de 2021) concedido pela vice-presidente uruguaia Beatriz Argimon e um ACE Awardee (2015). Vencedor e duas vezes finalista no concurso de música “American Prize in Composition” (2019 e 2018), várias vezes premiado com o New Works Grant do Queens Council on the Arts – Art Fund (NYC), New Music USA Awardee , Con Edison Composers Residency Awardee (NYC) e “Prêmio de Promoção Artística Belga” no Europe Jazz Contest 1999, entre vários outros reconhecimentos. Ativo nos mundos do Jazz, Clássico e Tango, Casenave apresentou-se pelo mundo, colaborou e gravou com artistas tão diversos como: Yo-Yo Ma, Bette Midler, Eddie Gomez, John Patitucci, Christian Mc Bride, Robert Duvall, Charlelie Couture , Paquito D’ Rivera e o 12º violoncelista da Filarmônica de Berlim, entre muitos outros. Os seus Concertos e Recitais foram apresentados em locais nas Américas do Norte, Central e do Sul, Ásia e Europa, incluindo The Walt Disney Concert Hall em Los Angeles, Carnegie Hall, Lincoln Center, The Blue Note (NYC), Taiwan National Theatre, Harris Theatre (Chicago), Jackie Gleason Theatre (Miami), Chung Mu Art Hall (Coreia), Porgy & Bess Jazz Club (Viena/Áustria), Mondavi Center for the Performing Arts e Walton Arts Center, entre muitos outros. Com mais de 30 álbuns em seu nome, ele também dirigiu e atuou em quase todos os principais shows de tango nos Estados Unidos nas últimas duas décadas, incluindo o sucesso da Broadway Forever Tango, Tango Fire, Tango Lovers, Tango Buenos Aires e Eternal Tango Orchestra entre outros. Ele é um ex-Diretor do Departamento de Jazz no Harbour Conservatory for the Performing Arts em East Harlem NY (2009 – 2012), além de dar Master Classes de Tango e palestras de artistas convidados na Juilliard School, Oberlin Conservatory, Eastman School of Music, Yale University, Columbia University, University of Florida e New York University, entre outras. Ele é membro permanente do corpo docente do Stowe Tango Music Festival em Vermont e publicou seu primeiro livro de teoria musical em 2014: “The Harmonic Structure Levels”.

Gustavo Casenave is a Uruguayan/American pianist and composer living in the United States since 1994. He was recently declared “Illustrious Citizen of the City of Montevideo” (Uruguay) in 2021. He is a Two-Time Latin GRAMMY® AWARD WINNER (2020 & 2019) for “Best Tango Album” and for “Best Instrumental Album”featuring all original compositions. He has been nominated six times for the Latin Grammy including three nominations on the “Best Contemporary Classical Composition” category. A Steinway Artist since 2014, Casenave is a “Majestic Excellence Award 2022 Winner” at the Excellence Piano International Competition in Europe. He is also a Two-Time Gold Medal Award Winner at the Global Music Awards, a first recipient of the “Horacio Ferrer” Award (October 2021) given by Uruguayan Vice President Beatriz Argimon, and an ACE Awardee (2015). He is the winner and Two-Time Finalist at the “American Prize in Composition” music contest (2019 &2018), multiple times awarded with the New Works Grant from the Queens Council on the Arts – Art Fund (NYC), New Music USA Awardee, Con Edison Composers Residency Awardee (NYC) and “Belgian Artistic Promotion Award” at Europe Jazz Contest 1999 among several other recognitions. Active in the worlds of Jazz, Classical and Tango, he has performed and toured worldwide, collaborated and recorded with artists as diverse as: Yo-Yo Ma, Bette Midler, Eddie Gomez, John Patitucci, Christian Mc Bride, Robert Duvall, Charlelie Couture, Paquito D’ Rivera and the 12 cellist of the Berlin Philharmonic among many others. He has performed at venues across North, Central and South America, Asia and Europe, including The Walt Disney Concert Hall in Los Angeles, Carnegie Hall, Lincoln Center, The Blue Note (NYC), Taiwan National Theater, Harris Theater (Chicago), Jackie Gleason Theatre (Miami), Chung Mu Art Hall (Korea), Porgy & Bess Jazz Club (Vienna/Austria), Mondavi Center for the Performing Arts and Walton Arts Center among many others. With more than 30 albums under his name, he also directed and performed on almost every major Tango show in the US on the last two decades, including the Broadway hit Forever Tango, Tango Fire, Tango Lovers, Tango Buenos Aires and Eternal Tango Orchestra among others. He is a former Jazz Department Director at the Harbor Conservatory for the Performing Arts in East Harlem NY (2009 – 2012), in addition to giving Tango Master Classes and guest artist lectures at The Juilliard School, Oberlin Conservatory, Eastman School of Music, Yale University, Columbia University, University of Florida and New York University among others. He is a permanent faculty member at the Stowe Tango Music Festival in Vermont and published his first music theory book in 2014: “The Harmonic Structure Levels”.

Il s’est produit dans des salles d’Amérique du Nord, centrale et du Sud, d’Asie et d’Europe, notamment au Walt Disney Concert Hall de Los Angeles, au Carnegie Hall, au Lincoln Center, au Blue Note (NYC), au Taiwan National Theatre, au Harris Theatre (Chicago), Jackie Gleason Theatre (Miami), Chung Mu Art Hall (Corée), Porgy & Bess Jazz Club (Vienne/Autriche), Mondavi Center for the Performing Arts et Walton Arts Center parmi tant d’autres. Avec plus de 30 albums sous son nom, il a également dirigé et joué dans presque tous les grands spectacles de tango aux États-Unis au cours des deux dernières décennies, y compris le hit de Broadway Forever Tango, Tango Fire, Tango Lovers, Tango Buenos Aires et Eternal Tango Orchestra parmi autres. Il est un ancien directeur du département de jazz au Harbor Conservatory for the Performing Arts à East Harlem NY (2009 – 2012), en plus de donner des cours de maître de tango et des conférences d’artistes invités à la Juilliard School, Oberlin Conservatory, Eastman School of Music, Yale University, Columbia University, University of Florida et New York University, entre autres.
