Flights of Angels Sing – St. George’s Church

 Esta frase do poeta e dramaturgo britânico, William Shakespeare, utilizada pelo Rei Charles III no seu primeiro discurso como Rei do Reino Unido e da Irlanda do Norte, serve de inspiração para o concerto de homenagem a Sua Majestade, a Rainha Elizabeth II.

No dia em que assinala um mês da sua morte, o Ensemble Corteto apresenta-se pela primeira vez na St George’s Church, em Lisboa, com um programa que inclui grandes clássicos da música britânica. O direção está a cargo da maestrina Alexandra Neves Fortes.

Autores como James MacMillan, Thomas Tallis, Hubert Parry, Gustav Holst, John Goss, Edward Elgar e Haendel, cujas obras acompanharam a vida da monarca que mais anos de sentou no trono de Inglaterra, serão interpretados em homenagem à Mulher do século, que cumpriu verdadeiramente o seu desígnio e a sua promessa, de servir o povo da Commonwealth durante toda a sua vida.

 This phrase by the British poet and playwright William Shakespeare, used by King Charles III in his first speech as King of the United Kingdom and Northern Ireland, is the inspiration for the tribute concert to Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II.

On the day that marks one month since her passing, the Ensemble Corteto will perform for the first time at St George’s Church, in Lisbon, with a programme that includes great classics of British music. Conductor Alexandra Neves Fortes is in charge.

Authors such as James MacMillan, Thomas Tallis, Hubert Parry, Gustav Holst, John Goss, Edward Elgar and Haendel, whose works accompanied the life of the longest British reigning monarch, will be interpreted in homage to the Woman of the Century, who truly fulfilled her purpose and her promise to serve the people of the Commonwealth throughout her life.
