Casa de Klezmer is a Lisbon-based quartet blending the emotive melodies of Klezmer, the driving rhythms of Balkan music, along with the spontaneity and playful spirit of Gypsy Jazz. Their international line-up explores a diverse repertoire of material including original compositions and traditional music to make you dance, laugh and cry; welcome to Casa de Klezmer!
Members:
Robin Timmis is an English violinist and composer currently living in Lisbon. With an appreciation for the eclectic and the eccentric, he has studied and performed across Europe and India. His compositions within this project are rooted in his passion for Klezmer and Balkan music.
Bea is a clarinet player and composer from Italy. Leaning towards the melancholic side of music, she has a particular love for traditional folk genres.
Josef Dobraszczyk is an accordionist, DJ and producer from the UK who has lived and performed across Latin America and Europe. Mainly focussed on Latin, Balkan, Ska and Punk, inspired by cultural exchange and musical migration, he has composed and collaborated with artists far and wide.
Bartolomeu Calderon is a guitar lover from Lisbon, Portugal, specializing in gypsy jazz with a love for a variety of traditional folk music. He performs regularly with gypsy jazz and Irish folk bands across Portugal.
