O livro The Psychic Lives of Statues: Reckoning with the Rubble of Empire explora as controvérsias globais sobre estátuas e como elas reorganizaram o pensamento político anticolonial. Rahul Rao leva os leitores numa viagem por diversos países, como África do Sul, Inglaterra, Estados Unidos, Gana, Índia, Austrália e Escócia, refletindo sobre as tensões políticas e sociais associadas a monumentos históricos.
A sessão será moderada em inglês.

Rahul Rao é professor de Pensamento Político Internacional na Escola de Relações Internacionais da Universidade de St. Andrews, Escócia. Sanjay Seth é professor de Teoria Pós-colonial e Pensamento Político na mesma universidade. Afonso Dias Ramos é historiador de arte e investigador do IHA – NOVA FCSH / IN2PAST.

The book The Psychic Lives of Statues: Reckoning with the Rubble of Empire explores global controversies about statues and how these controversies have dramatically reshaped the canon of anti-colonial political thought. Rahul Rao takes readers on a journey through South Africa, England, United States, Ghana, India, Australia, and Scotland, reflecting on the political and social tensions surrounding historical monuments.
The session will be conducted in English.
About the Participants:
Rahul Rao is a Professor of International Political Thought at the School of International Relations, University of St. Andrews, Scotland. Sanjay Seth is a Professor of Post-colonial Theory and Political Thought at the same university. Afonso Dias Ramos is an art historian and researcher at IHA – NOVA FCSH / IN2PAST.
