Ensemble Al’Fado with “Encounters of Ladino & Fado”, inspired by local musical genres such as Fado and Flamenco, and African and Brazilian influences as part the interpretation of these two traditional songbooks.Their work focuses on cultures originating in the Iberian Peninsula, in specific on the traditions of the Sephardic Jewish communities of medieval times and the expression in their language, called Ladino – a language that includes influences from Spanish, Castilian, Portuguese, Hebrew, Turkish, Greek, Slavic languages, and Moroccan Arabic.
