Aixa Figini – BOTA

Singer, songwriter and producer born in Buenos Aires, Argentina. Aixa has created and participated in various projects that range from folklore and traditional world rhythms to musical improvisation. She has 18 years of artistic career throughout which she has worked as a singer of tango, Argentine folklore, Latin American music and vocal improvisation. She has a degree in Musical Arts from the University of Buenos Aires, studied at the School of Contemporary Music of Buenos Aires and completed a postgraduate degree in Management and Cultural Policies at Goldsmiths College, University of London.

She lives in Lisbon since 2018, where she works as an artist, creator, producer and educator. Currently, she directs her own project of Latin American music, and the female vocal improvisation ensemble CIRCULAR, of which she is the founder. In addition, she co-created À Beira do Cais – fado & tango, a show that seeks to build bridges between urban traditions in Buenos Aires and Lisbon; and she regularly teaches vocal improvisation workshops for groups.

Aixa will release her first solo album in October 2022, in which she presents her own compositions and interpretations of Latin American folk music, with the collaboration of several Lisbon-based musicians.
