O embate no solo racha-o, revelando o seu interior: um recheio de números como os que conhecemos agora em forma de peças de dominó. Um alquimista e estudioso dos fenómenos da Natureza consegue observar directamente o meteorito que cai mesmo no meio do seu espaço de trabalho. Este novo elemento (o número) causará um enorme transformação nos métodos de observação por ele aplicados e será responsável por mudanças profundas dentro da sua comunidade.\nAntes da queda deste objecto e antes dos números não havia contagem, dosagem, medidas. Técnicas de observação — como o uso de lentes ou registo fotográfico — e até algumas de manipulação da matéria — como cozinhar, ou esculpir — eram já usadas, contudo sem uma consciência numérica. Práticas como a tecelagem, o cálculo, o planeamento urbano e o voto contado não existiam. Nos seus estudos até este momento, as medições eram feitas através de métodos de comparação: a sombra de um rochedo servia-lhe de referência dimensional, a escuridão da noite servia-lhe de referência temporal, a superfície das folhas de referência geométrica e as pedras de referência de peso. O que acontece quando estes números aparecem e nos são dados, quando a referência se torna em algo mais abstracto e dissociado do nosso meio ambiente? O que acontece à Ciência, à observação e à nossa interação com o mundo material? De onde vêm estes números?\n“O Vapor dos Números” é uma instalação performática que acompanha a recepção deste meteorito de números e consequente transformação dos métodos de observação, interpretação e organização de matéria que o mesmo provoca. Cru Encarnação procura construir um ambiente imersivo face a esta ficção especulativa, convidando o público a permanecer no espaço tanto tempo quanto desejar. A performance durará 5 horas e será dividida em 4 actos, que podem sempre ser vistos separadamente.\n𝐂𝐫𝐮 𝐄𝐧𝐜𝐚𝐫𝐧𝐚𝐜̧𝐚̃𝐨 Com influências teóricas dos campos da Fenomenologia e da Filosofia Feminista da Ciência, Cru Encarnação procura retratar as gramáticas da percepção, da ilusão e de dinâmicas colectivas de criação de significado. O seu trabalho aborda a fisicalidade deste significado socialmente construído, numa dimensão cognitiva, motora, química e emocional. Uma realidade frágil, embora cruel, é exposta através de um modus operandi dissociativo, ficcional e especulativo. Os seus interesses incluem Neo-Escatologia, Maquinaria, Química, Ciência e Magia. Já apresentou o seu trabalho em espaços como nGbK, STUK Leuven, Horse&Pony, DICE-Festival, vorspiel & transmediale, ACUD MACHT NEU e Alte Münze. O seu trabalho escrito foi publicado pelos colectivos Bridge (Alemanha), FALTA (Portugal), trains (EUA) ou Montag Modus (Alemanha) e transmitido pela Cashmere Radio. Em Portugal apresentou o seu trabalho no Festival Ano 0 em 2021 e recentemente participou na apresentação de “Atlântida” de Odete no Teatro Nacional D. Maria II e no festival “The Shape of a Circle in the Dream of a Fish” organizado pela Serpentine Galleries e pela Galeria Municipal do Porto. Encontra-se de momento em residência no Porto no colectivo Pedreira.\n \n❋❋❋❋❋❋❋❋❋❋❋❋\nEN One day, an aggregate of rocks and minerals falls on Earth. The ground impact cracks it, revealing its interior: it is full of numbers, like the ones we now know, in the form of domino pieces. An alchemist and student of the phenomena of nature directly observes the meteorite which falls right in the middle of his workspace. This new element (the number) will cause a huge transformation in the observation methods he applies and will be responsible for profound changes within his community.\nBefore the fall of this object, and before numbers, there was no counting, no metering, no measurement. Observation techniques – such as the use of lenses or photographic recording – and even some of matter manipulation – such as cooking, or sculpting – were already used, however without a numerical consciousness. Practices such as weaving, calculating, urban planning, and counting votes did not exist. In his studies up to this point, measurements were made using comparison methods: the shadow of a rock served as a dimensional reference, the darkness of night served as a time reference, the surface of leaves as a geometric reference, and stones as a weight reference. What happens when these numbers appear and are given to us, when the reference becomes something more abstract and dissociated from our environment? What happens to science, to observation, and to our interaction with the material world? Where do these numbers come from?\n“O Vapor dos Números” is a performative installation that follows the reception of this meteorite of numbers and the consequent transformation of the methods of observation, interpretation and organization of matter that it provokes. Cru Encarnação seeks to build an immersive environment towards this speculative fiction, inviting the audience to stay in the space as long as they wish. The performance will last 5 hours and will be divided into 4 acts, which can always be seen separately.\n𝐂𝐫𝐮 𝐄𝐧𝐜𝐚𝐫𝐧𝐚𝐜̧𝐚̃𝐨 With theoretical influences from the fields of Phenomenology and Feminist Philosophy of Science, Cru Encarnação seeks to portray the grammars of perception, illusion and collective dynamics of meaning creation. His work addresses the physicality of this socially constructed meaning, in a cognitive, motor, chemical and emotional dimension. A fragile, yet cruel reality is exposed through a dissociative, fictional and speculative modus operandi. His interests include Neo-Escatology, Machinery, Chemistry, Science and Magic. He has presented his work in venues such as nGbK, STUK Leuven, Horse&Pony, DICE-Festival, vorspiel & transmediale, ACUD MACHT NEU and Alte Münze. His written work has been published by the collectives Bridge (Germany), FALTA (Portugal), trains (USA) or Montag Modus (Germany) and broadcasted by Cashmere Radio.
